New Interactive Advocacy Map Empowers Counties to Recognize 9-1-1 Dispatchers as First Responders

Ohio APCO is proud to announce the launch of its new State Advocacy page—an interactive hub designed to support our mission of formally recognizing 9-1-1 dispatchers as First Responders across Ohio.

At the heart of the page is an interactive county map that allows visitors to:

  • Download a customizable resolution template for their county
  • View counties that have already passed their resolution (highlighted in green)
  • Track our progress as we build a united voice for statewide recognition
  • Tailor the resolution’s opening paragraph with local slogans or county-specific context

This grassroots effort begins at the local level—county by county—with the ultimate goal of introducing legislation at the Ohio Statehouse in 2026. Two counties, Washington and Fayette, have already adopted their resolutions, setting the tone for this vital campaign.

We invite public safety professionals, dispatchers, county officials, and community advocates to explore the page and take action.
